Volunteers

The world is at our door here in Greenville, SC!

More than 45 countries are represented by international students and scholars studying at Furman University, Agape English Language Institute, English Language Services, Inc., and Clemson University MBA & ICAR Graduate Programs. Americans are needed to help them with conversational English and cultural adjustments, and to be a friend. You can do this by volunteering to be an English Conversation Partner or Friendship Partner.

As a Christian organization, iFace advocates purity of motives, clarity in purpose, and honesty in intention. Our philosophy is to encourage mutual dialogue, as summed up in the words from the Bible, “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.” All iFace activities are open to international students, scholars, and their families regardless of race, nationality, or religious preference.

Conversation Partners
English Language students are matched with American volunteers to meet together at least once a week for conversational practice and friendship.  It is a great way for students to meet an American friend and improve their speaking skills.

Friendship Partners
University students and scholars are matched with American volunteers for friendship and cultural exchange.  It offers students a "home away from home."  It is a great way for students to meet an American friend from the community, learn about Greenville and American culture.

Plus much more . . .
We plan supporting activities like Welcome Events, community cultural activities, community service opportunities, and holiday parties.  For those student interested in learning what the Bible teaches, we offer Discovery Bible study as well as discipleship studies for those who want to continue to learn, grow in their faith and have Christian fellowship.
